Last night on The Daily Show, former Governor Mike Huckabee joined Jon Stewart, ostensibly to talk about his new book of letters to his grandchildren. Not surprisingly, the conversation didn’t dwell on the book for long.

I’ve always enjoyed watching Huckabee on The Daily Show, because he comes across as a well-reasoned and intelligent man. I don’t agree with him, but I’ve respected him. This election season, however, he has seemed to go off the rails with some inflammatory ads and comments.

I love Jon Stewart for so many reasons, but perhaps most of all because he holds people accountable for what they say and the impact that their words have. With Huckabee, I share Jon’s disappointment that Huckabee might not be the reasoned conservative counterpart we thought he was.
